Six Virunga Rangers Have Been Killed
in the Line of Duty

LCA Donates $25,000 To Support Ranger Angèle Running in London Marathon on 4/22 to Raise Funds for All Fallen Rangers
Last Chance for Animals is deeply saddened by recent news from Virunga National Park. On Monday morning, five Virunga Rangers and one staff driver were killed. A sixth ranger, who was wounded, was able to be rescued and flown to a hospital. It is believed they were attacked by native militia that strip the natural resources and poach the animals, including the majestic mountain gorilla, from the park.

Support Angèle in the London Marathon and the fallen rangers of Virunga.
Virunga’s brave rangers risk their lives daily to protect the animals and the park. Last Chance for Animals has donated $25,000 in support of Virunga ranger Angèle, who is running in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018. The funds raised will go towards Virunga’s fallen rangers and their families.
“My name is Angèle and I am 25. I have been a park ranger since 2014, and now work as an assistant instructor in Ishango helping new recruits through their training. I became a ranger because I love Virunga, and wanted to inspire other women to try and become rangers. That is why I am running the London Marathon this year, to represent Virunga and it’s unique beauty, and support my brave colleagues”.
LCA has been supporting Virunga National Park for many years in their effort to protect the native wildlife. Please join LCA and donate to Virunga by supporting Angèle in the London Marathon and the fallen rangers of Virunga.
