Honoring Our Military Veterans on Both Ends of The Leash!

Honoring our military veterans on both ends of the leash

Personal Message from Captain Jason Haag, USMC (Ret.)

Today, on Veterans Day, we honor those who defend our country as part of the U.S. Armed Forces. From everyone here at American Humane Association, thank you to all who serve in defense of our freedom.

Our 100-year history working on behalf of military veterans on both ends of the leash has grown so much in the past year. We effected real change on behalf of our Battle Buddies, advocating to amend the policies of our government so that ALL of our military working dogs are returned to U.S. soil after their service to our country is complete, and to provide an easier road to reunite them with their human heroes they bravely served beside.

Through our Wags4Patriots™ grants we continue to help our veterans suffering from PTS get much-needed but costly therapy dogs.

In addition, we recently expanded our K-9 Battle Buddies™ program to provide our active military working dog and handler teams special care packages including essential items and treats for both the human and K-9 warriors, lifting their spirits while they are so many miles away from home. And since 2011 we’ve teamed with National Military Family Association to provide playful, loving therapy dogs for Operation Purple Camps, which help military children cope with family members deployed overseas.

Today, on behalf of all of us at American Humane Association, we want to thank not only our veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice, but our supporters as well, because without you, our lifesaving work for our heroes on both ends of the leash would simply not be possible.

I proudly thank all of you.
