Humane Society Legislative Fund Needs Your Help Now

Humane Society Legislative Fund
Very soon, Congress will be voting on the final spending package for Fiscal Year 2018. We have a short window in which to contact legislators and ask that the final budget protects wildlife and prevents the slaughter of America’s horses.

We urge you to contact your U.S. Representative and two U.S. Senators and ask them to work with leadership to ensure that:

the ban is maintained on horse slaughter plants operating in the U.S.;

America’s wild horses and burros remain protected from slaughter;

provisions that are harmful to wildlife are excluded, particularly the Young amendment that would allow cruel trophy hunting methods—like killing animal mothers and their young in their dens—on National Park Service lands in Alaska;

and critical Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections for species such as the gray wolf are maintained.

Please make a brief, polite phone call to Rep. John Larson at (202) 225-2265 and two U.S. Senators at 202-224-3121. You can simply say, “As your constituent, I am calling about the final FY18 spending package. I urge you to work with leadership to protect America’s domestic and wild horses from slaughter. Additionally, please ensure that our wildlife continues to be protected by preventing harmful Endangered Species Act riders and riders allowing extreme methods of killing grizzlies and wolves on Alaska public lands.”

Once you’re done, please send a follow-up message.

Take Action!

We only have a short window of opportunity, so please act today!

Thank you,
