If You Are The ASPCA-There Is Nothing Cute About Kitten Season

From The ASPCA Website

While most Americans are busting out the sunscreen, beach balls and barbeques in anticipation of summer, the ASPCA is preparing for a different kind of season: kitten season.

Sounds adorable, right? Unfortunately, there’s nothing cute about kitten season. It’s the time of year when cats begin to breed, flooding animal shelters across the country with homeless and newborn kittens. It is a tremendous population explosion, and, virtually overnight, the number of kittens begins to exceed the number of homes available.

During kitten season, resources like food, money and space are stretched to the brink. And every year, millions of cats are euthanized simply because there aren’t enough families to adopt them. But the ASPCA is determined to make a difference, and you can help.

Donate Now
When you donate to the ASPCA, you are supporting our efforts to curb kitten season and find a home for every cat. From innovative adoption programs to successful spay/neuter initiatives, we’re making real progress. In May, we announced plans for a brand new kitten nursery, which will help care for the thousands of newborn cats who come through our doors.

Together, we can make a real difference for homeless cats and kittens in need. Please make a donation today, and help us turn these “dog days” of summer into the most cat-friendly season yet.
